Goodbye to 2017…..bring on 2018!

As we reach the end of the year we’d like to remind our lovely suporters that you can read a regular report on Mae’s progress on her facebook page.

Mae’s made an enormous effort this year, continuing to show true grit and determination, despite some difficult situations and some challenging therapy. In October Mae reached another milestone, moving from 3 point sticks, to starting out walking with single point forearm crutches. The difference in the feeling of stability for Mae must be huge but, characteristically, she gave it her all….and smiled all the way through it!

It’s just this kind of spirit that has earned Mae a nomination, from one of her lovely Therapists, for the‘Pride of the Isle’ awards. It was heartening to read the nomination and realise that Mae’s progress is clear to others than family. If you’d like to vote for Mae please Text:

This year your donations have helped to pay for bespoke splints to support Mae’s legs during standing and therapy. We visited the Essex Orthotics Clinic in October, where Mae had to be specially fitted. To our huge surprise the lovely Craig and Leanne customise children’s splints at no additional cost, so our Little Mix fan had no problem in choosing her design! For her tall pair Mae was a little stuck, then made us all chuckle when she settled on ‘me please, with stars and my rainbows’! Here are the finished products – no problems getting her to wear these ones! (Photos to follow!)

This year Mae has attended 3 intensive therapy residential visits, is currently increasing distance with her tripod sticks and is continuing to learn to use (single point) crutches! None of this would be possible without the emotional and financial support of Mae’s many followers. The range of events and persoanl feats ndertaken by our supporters this year has been very impressive – thanks so much to you all! There’s still some way to go, and we are presently raising funds to cover future costs of therapy, which is likely to include hamstring surgery back in USA. You can help by suggesting sponsored events or fundraisers, or donating directly at Mae’s Just Giving page. Huge thanks for ‘supporting Mae every step of the way’.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and all good things in 2018,

The Fox Family xxx
